It was an ugly loss for the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday against the New York Knicks. After a great first quarter, everything seemed to collapse around them, and they got blown out 111-97. The culprits were many. Nobody could hit a 3-pointer, nobody could rebound, ball-handlers were struggling against an in-sync Knicks defense, and nobody could rebound to save their lives. The Pistons were also plagued by foul trouble, and the players in said foul trouble were the guys you’d hope could help deliver the kind of energy and impact to get them out of their funk — Ausar Thompson, Ron Holland, Paul Reed. With them often off of the floor, Detroit didn’t have any answers or anywhere to turn. While the quest for a perfect 82-0 season is over, it also creates a new opportunity — a bounce-back game. The 3-1 Charlotte Hornets, highly skilled and well-coached by Charles Lee, are a great test for the Pistons. What are we in for tonight?
