SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - APRIL 28: Victor Wembanyama #1 of the San Antonio Spurs defends the shot attempt by Toumani Camara #33 of the Portland Trail Blazers during the fourth quarter in Game Five of the First Round of the NBA Western Conference Playoffs at Frost Bank Center on April 28, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas. Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs took care of the Kings in Sacramento last night behind another dominant Wembanyama performance, along with 19 points each from the firm of Vassell, Castle, and Harper. The game was under control for the entire second half, and the 15 point margin of victory doesn’t really how much badly the Sacramento squad was out-talented by the Silver and Black. The Spurs still have a bench production issue, as the Kings reserves outscored the Spurs reserves 35-20, which led to Mitch Johnson not being able to rest Wembanyama as much as you would want to see. Still with Victor playing 26 minutes and the rest of the starters playing around 28, they should be rested enough to take on the Trail Blazers tonight. Victor is not listed on tonight’s injury report, despite turning his ankle on a reckless closeout by Damontas Sabonis in the first half of last night’s game, but it will bear watching to see if he’s hampered at all by the beating he’s been taking so far this season.

Tonight, they face the Portland Trail Blazers, who are pretty much full strength, except for Ja Morant, with a hammy strain, and Robert Williams (TIME LORD) resting on the second night of a back-to-back. The Blazers’ starting backcourt should be Dame Lillard and Scoot Henderson, who could be a tough matchup for the Spurs starting backcourt trio. Deni Avdija always scores a lot against the Spurs, and Donovan Clingan’s size could be tough for Wemby on the second night of a back-to-back. After losing 124-118 to the Lakers tonight, with Avdija playing almost 39 minutes, it will be interesting to see how much they have left in the tank for tonight.

As always, GO SPURS GO! It’s another late night west coast game, so I’m making my second pot of coffee of the day just before tipoff. I could be making micheladas, but then I wouldn’t make it to the final buzzer, and I want to see the Spurs win. Lets go Spurs, and De’Aaron must dominate Dame.

Game Prediction:

Robert Williams tries to use his Tardis to travel back in time to get some extra rest, but encounters his teammate Damian Lillard at the controls and finds out that Dame is also a Time Lord, the master of Dame time.
[The Master? … OH NO!!]
